Autobiography
Jonah D. Martin: Artist, Graphics and Web-designer
Born in 1961 in Rocky Mt. Virginia, Herbert L Martin Sr and Della May Martin. The middle child of 10 children. The artistic talents were inherited from my father. My father started painting pictures to ease his mind from the memories of world war II. In my childhood I remember him drawing pictures on canvas, and then painting them. Only one unpleasant memories of that time, is the unpleasant odors of the oil paints he used to use. Saturday was my day sometimes, when I got in the mood to draw pictures.
One painting, a water-color I did of Danny Thomas on the front of a TV Guide. I took it to school to show to some of my class mates. I did not understand back then, but for some reason, one of my class mates was determined to get that painting from me. To this day, I wonder what happened to it. It was perfect. The way I blended the colors, his face just jumped off the page and out of all the paintings or portraits done since then, this one stands out the most. It will be very interesting to know if he still has it and has preserved it some how.
